Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Wine Steward/Manager to join our team at the Ingomar Club. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for wine, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to manage our wine inventory effectively. This role involves training service staff, selling wines during dinner service, and planning exclusive winemaker dinners and events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wine Inventory Management:
- Oversee and maintain the wine inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels and proper storage conditions.
- Conduct regular inventory assessments and manage the ordering process to replenish stock as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with wine suppliers and distributors to source high-quality wines.
- Staff Training:
- Train and educate service staff on wine selections, pairings, and service techniques to enhance guest experience.
- Conduct regular tastings and workshops to keep the team informed on new arrivals and wine trends.
- Dinner Service:
- Actively sell wines during dinner service 3-4 nights per week, providing personalized recommendations to guests.
- Create and maintain an engaging and informative wine menu that reflects the club’s offerings.
- Coordinate wine and food pairings with the Club Chef.
- Event Planning:
- Plan and organize winemaker dinners and special wine events, collaborating with the Executive Chef to create complementary menus.
- Promote events to club members and manage logistics to ensure a memorable experience.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in wine management, preferably in a private club, restaurant, or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and pairing principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for dinner service and events.
- Certification from a recognized wine education program (e.g., WSET, CMS) is a plus.
