Hellas, Inc., the #1 Sports Construction company in North America, is seeking an experienced Senior Diesel Mechanic / Shop Manager to oversee the operations, maintenance, and repair of our construction equipment and fleet vehicles. This position will be based at either our Liberty Hill, TX or DFW - area yard and includes some limited travel to project sites as needed.

Hellas is seeking a hands-on, proactive Senior Diesel Mechanic / Shop Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in diesel engines and heavy construction equipment, strong leadership skills, and a passion for preventative maintenance and safety. This individual will play a critical role in keeping our fleet operational and ready to support projects across the country.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all shop operations, ensuring timely maintenance and repair of diesel engines, heavy equipment, and fleet vehicles.
- Perform diagnostics, inspections, and repairs on a wide range of construction equipment including loaders, dozers, trucks, pavers, and trailers.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient shop environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly cared for and stored.
- Schedule routine preventative maintenance and maintain accurate service records for all vehicles and machinery.
- Monitor inventory levels of parts, supplies, and tools; coordinate purchasing and vendor relationships.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and supervision to junior mechanics or technicians.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards.
- Occasionally travel to job sites to perform field repairs or conduct equipment assessments.
- Communicate with project managers and operations teams to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
- Participate in equipment evaluations and make recommendations for replacement or upgrades.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 8-10 years of hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy construction equipment.
- Prior experience managing a shop or supervising a team of mechanics strongly preferred.
- Technical certification or trade school degree in diesel mechanics or related field preferred.
- Excellent mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient with maintenance tracking systems and basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; CDL is a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Self-starter with a solution-focused attitude and ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment.
