Summary:

We are seeking a Lead Hardware Recycling Technician to manage and execute the hands-on dismantling, sorting, and recycling of company-owned electronic hardware. This role plays a critical part in our environmental sustainability and IT asset lifecycle management programs. You will be responsible for disassembling laptops, monitors, mobile phones, telecommunications equipment, and handling battery recycling in compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations. The role also includes the development and maintenance of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to ensure consistency, safety, and compliance across all recycling activities.

Key Responsibilities:
Dismantle and sort electronic hardware including laptops, monitors, phones, and telecom equipment.
Safely remove, classify, and prepare lithium-ion and other batteries for certified recycling.
Develop, maintain, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for hardware disassembly, battery handling, device wiping, and equipment tracking.
Lead safety compliance efforts related to e-waste, hazardous components, and battery storage/disposal.
Track inventory of devices being recycled and update asset disposition logs accurately.
Coordinate with IT and Facilities teams on scheduling hardware pickups and recycling logistics.
Ensure all data-bearing devices are properly wiped or destroyed per SOPs and company policy.
Train and guide junior recycling technicians and ensure SOP adherence across all activities.
Monitor opportunities for equipment reuse, parts harvesting, or resale when applicable.
Participate in internal audits or environmental reporting related to e-waste and recycling metrics.


Required Skills & Qualifications:
3+ years of hands-on experience in electronics recycling, ITAD, or computer hardware repair.
Demonstrated ability to develop and document SOPs for technical or operational processes.
Strong knowledge of safe handling procedures for lithium-ion and other battery types.
Familiarity with industry standards such as R2, e-Stewards, and relevant OSHA regulations.
Ability to work with hand and power tools, and manage hardware teardown processes.
Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in warehouse or lab environments.
Valid driver’s license.


Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in e-Waste recycling, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), or ITAD programs.
Experience working with reverse logistics, IT asset management systems, or CMDB tools.
Awareness of sustainability programs and environmental compliance frameworks.


Working Conditions:
This is a full-time, hands-on position requiring physical activity and adherence to safety protocols.
Some travel to company locations or certified recycling vendors may be necessary.
