Job Summary:

At Action Road Solutions we are seeking a skilled and dependable Automotive Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, service, and repair a variety of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The mechanic will be responsible for ensuring vehicles meet safety and operational standards, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maximizing fleet reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

• Perform scheduled maintenance (e.g., oil changes, filter replacements, brake inspections).

• Use diagnostic tools and scan equipment to identify engine and system faults.

• Inspect vehicles for wear, damage, and mechanical malfunctions.

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, services performed, and parts used.

• Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with FMCSA and state safety standards.

• Fabricate or modify parts and equipment as needed using welders and cutting tools.

• Order and maintain inventory of parts and shop supplies.

• Assist in roadside or field service repairs as required.

• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma or GED

• 2–5 years of hands-on diesel mechanic experience

• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain)

• Proficiency with diesel diagnostic software and repair tools

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

Preferred:

• ASE certifications (e.g., T2 Diesel Engines, T4 Brakes)

• Knowledge of Cummins, CAT, Detroit Diesel, or similar engines

• Welding and fabrication experience

• Familiarity with FMCSA vehicle maintenance standards

Working Conditions:

• Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs

• Exposure to noise, grease, fumes, and heavy equipment

• May work in indoor shop or outdoor environments in various weather conditions

• Occasional on-call or after-hours work may be required
