Title: Human Resource Generalist
Reports to: HR Manager
FLSA: FT Exempt
Location: Westlake, TX
Department: Human Resources
Direct Reports: No direct
Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Human Resources (HR) department, including administering payroll, benefits, workers’ compensation, and leave programs. This role also ensures consistent enforcement of company policies and supports a positive, compliant workplace environment.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and track human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; performance and talent management; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Processes payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
- Oversees the continued execution and effectiveness of new hire orientation and employee recognition programs, ensuring they remain engaging, consistent, and aligned with company culture.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefit providers and vendors.
- Assists employees with filing claims and navigating related benefit or leave processes.
- Participates in employee relations meetings to address performance, conduct, and workplace concerns, fostering a positive work environment.
- Ensures a timely and accurate response to unemployment claims.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Provides assistance with routine employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and procedures, escalating more complex matters as needed.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Trains Plant Administrators on the HRIS system and provide guidance on resolving HR-related challenges.
- Assists with additional tasks and projects as needed to support the Human Resources team and company initiatives.

This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
- Ethical practice and conduct
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Experience in payroll processing with a focus on accuracy and compliance
Preferred Experience:
- Has or is in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
- At least two years of human resource experience is preferred.
- SHRM-CP, a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- Must be willing to schedule PTO around department deadlines.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be required as job duties demand.
- Occasional travel may be required.
