EMAGES, Inc. is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to providing culturally sensitive, holistic, and strength-based behavioral health services to underserved and justice-involved populations. We specialize in working with individuals mandated for treatment services, including those on probation or parole, and those referred for sex offender treatment, DUI services, anger management, and trauma-informed substance use disorder treatment.
Position Summary:
EMAGES seeks a compassionate, ethical, and experienced Substance Use Disorder Counselor to deliver Level I and Level II outpatient services. The counselor will work directly with clients, many of whom are referred from court, probation, parole, or social service agencies. The role includes assessments, individual and group counseling, treatment planning, and compliance reporting with an emphasis on recovery, accountability, and reintegration.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct ASAM-based assessments and determine appropriate level of care for substance use treatment (Level I or II).
- Deliver individual and group counseling using evidence-based models (CBT, MI, trauma-informed care, relapse prevention).
- Facilitate structured SUD groups integrated with co-occurring disorder content and psychoeducation, tailored to justice-involved individuals.
- Develop individualized treatment plans, ensuring compliance with SUPR standards and court-mandated requirements.
- Document all sessions and contacts in a timely and compliant manner using the agency’s recording system.
- Monitor and track treatment compliance and attendance, reporting to probation/parole officers as required.
- Prepare and submit progress reports and appear in court or staffing conferences as needed.
- Collaborate with EMAGES team in interdisciplinary case staffing, quality assurance reviews, and program development.
- Support the integration of restorative justice, trauma recovery, and victim empathy into treatment plans where appropriate.
- Assist clients in accessing wraparound services such as mental health care, housing support, or employment referrals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- CADC required; higher credentials (e.g. associate degree, BA, BSW) strongly preferred.
- Degree preferred in a human services or clinical field (e.g., Counseling, Psychology, Social Work).
- Minimum 2–3 years of direct experience providing Level I/II SUD services, preferably with justice-involved or culturally diverse populations.
- Familiarity with IDHS/SUPR compliance, ASAM criteria, and treatment documentation standards.
- Experience with court-involved treatment, including fee collection monitoring and compliance with mandates.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and crisis intervention skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and restorative community-based treatment.
- Comfort working in group settings and facilitating curriculum-based interventions.
- Familiarity with program evaluation metrics.
Work Conditions & Schedule:
- In-person and possible hybrid delivery at agency and off-site group locations.
- Some evening or weekend hours required are based on client and program needs.
- Requires regular documentation, data entry, and inter-agency communication.
