SUMMARY

The Help Desk Technician will provide technical and troubleshooting support to users in need of assistance with their computer hardware or software. The technician will document the interaction with users from the first contact to the resolution. The role will perform a variety of tasks, such as installing and updating software, implementing file backups, and other preventative maintenance. The technician must continually update their knowledge and skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Respond to, troubleshoot and resolve user problems and requests with computer equipment, peripherals, communication devices, connectivity and business software.
• Maintain inventory system of computer, network and communication equipment.
• Clean, upgrade and repair computer hardware.
• Support all aspects of data operations as needed, including backup to other I.T. staff.
• Install new software on users’ computers
• Clean, modify and repair computer hardware including monitors, keyboard and printers
• Provide exceptional customer service to phone calls or e-mails
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED/PREFERRED

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solver with deadline and closure skills.
• Self-starter, professional appearance, interpersonal skills and team player.
• Ability to handle multiple, changing priorities.
• Willing to work evenings or weekends as required.
• Strong commitment to ethical behavior and preserving confidentiality.
• Good understanding and experience using TCP/IP, DNS, routers, switches, firewalls and VPN.
• Good understanding and experience using, configuring and troubleshooting NT domains, Windows PC’s and servers.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED/PREFERRED

• Completion of I.T. educational program or minimum of one year employment experience in the field.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

• Able to climb stairs and carry up to 40lbs
• Must live within a 30-minute radius or be willing to relocate within 6 months. ** This is an on-site role only. Not work from home. **
