Job Title: General Manager, Uptown Pup

Uptown Pup is a positive-reinforcement, fear-free dog daycare, boarding, grooming, and training facility in Broad Ripple, Indianapolis. Overview:
The General Manager oversees animal care, staff management, and customer service in our facility. Our managers must be supremely reliable, communicative, detail-oriented, kind, and set the standard for conduct with dogs, clients, and staff. Managers should be highly knowledgeable of our pricing, policies, and procedures, and comfortable sharing that knowledge with clients and staff. 

Key Responsibilities
Work with Assistant Manager to:
-oversee and ensure the health and well-being of dogs in our care 
-support canine care and customer service staff in their roles
-recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, as well as create and manage staff schedule
-conduct employee reviews and address staff performance issues kindly but clearly
-work front desk shifts, and approve reservation requests for boarding and daycare services 
-respond to emails and phone calls, and communicate with clients re: dog health & behavior concerns 
-enforce facility policies with clients and staff 
-manage emergency response in event of a natural disaster, medical emergency, or other threat to staff and/or dog(s) 
-communicate with management team on issues with staff, clients, and dogs, or facility maintenance issues as needed
-be able to fulfill the roles of canine care rep, customer service rep, and reservation specialist, when needed

Qualifications:
Experience: 2+ years of experience in a leadership role in animal care  
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred but not required

Skills & Attributes:
Leadership/Management: Experience leading teams, delegating tasks, and resolving conflicts. Ability to empathize, practice servant leadership, recognize one's own shortcomings, and take accountability when needed. Knowledge/understanding of basic psychology, including neurodivergent traits and learning styles, or a willingness to learn. Appreciates working with a diverse team and clientele.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to maintain utmost professionalism and respect at all times, in all interactions with clients and staff.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify existing and future issues effectively, and mitigate promptly, always working with risk management and client & staff experience in mind.
Dog Knowledge/Experience: Experience and knowledge in dog handling, behavior, psychology, and health, and a willingness to continue learning/building this skill set.

Schedule:
Tues-Sat, 40-45 hours/week. Some holiday supervision required.

Compensation:
Salary: $40k+
Benefits: 
80 hours PTO, healthcare bonus, loyalty bonus, profit sharing, professional development support. Relocation assistance available.
