Overview:

 

The Reimbursement Benefit Coordinator is responsible for contacting insurance companies to verify patient insurance coverage via telephone, portal and fax. This position is also responsible for performing all job duties while adhering to HIPAA requirements.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Verify patient eligibility and durable medical equipment benefit with health insurance plan(s)
  • Identify issues with insurance coverage that may impact Tactile reimbursement process
  • Determine authorization process and requirements of payers for durable medical equipment
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of benefits in the patient database
  • Investigate complex payer scenarios and provide guidance on reimbursement positioning
  • Partner with colleagues to provide insurance benefit information for prior authorization submission and product shipment
  • Document patient insurance benefits in Tactile's database and verify the information already on file is accurate
  • Provide support to Reimbursement Operations Department and other departments as needed, including benefit re-verification
  • Identify interdepartmental efficiency improvements
  • Maintain payer portal registration
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years direct work experience
  • Prior experience using Insurance Payer Portals (e.g. Availity, NaviNet) or similar computer technology

Preferred:

  • 1+ year experience with medical insurance benefits and/or training
  • Previous experience with durable medical equipment

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ablity to focus and meet key metrics while working in a fast paced environment
  • Results driven and proactive
  • Must be persuasive and credible with third party payers
  • Able to provide on-going communications to patients, field reps, clinicians, payers, peers and management
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Detail-oriented, able to multitask with strong organizational skills
