About the Role:

The IT Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the organization's IT infrastructure, to assist in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of Scantron’s Technology infrastructure, with a focus on end user experience, cloud technologies, VMware environments, security. automation, and networking. They will ensure reliability, scalability, security, and compliance across all infrastructure components and be responsible for the day-to day operations of computer systems, including the installation and configuration of software, hardware, and networks.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years within Technology infrastructure
• An understanding of compliance standards relevant to Tech infrastructure (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO27001, SOC 2)
• Cloud technologies and migration strategies
• Networking concepts and implementations (e.g., SDN, VPNs, load balancing)
• Cybersecurity best practices in cloud and on-premises environments
• Proven track record in large-scale infrastructure projects and migration

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools
• Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure
• Experience with network security and data encryption technologies
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server & IIS
• Experience with Microsoft O365, Active Directory, SharePoint, OneDrive
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a point of contact for any IT-related issues
• Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network systems
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues
• Manage user accounts and permissions
• Stay up to date with industry developments and make recommendations for improvements
• Knowledge and understanding of higher education, governmental agency or corporate/industry information security, governance, risk and compliance practices and standards including but not limited to NIST CSF, ISO27001, SOC 2)
• Write technical documentation
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve problems
• Provide Tier 2/3 support when needed
• Execute infrastructure strategy, emphasizing cloud adoption and virtualization
• Oversee and optimize cloud infrastructure, VMware environments, and network architecture
• Implement robust security measures and disaster recovery plans for the protection sensitive data
• Optimize infrastructure performance and costs, particularly in cloud and virtualized environments
• Collaborate with other departments to align technology infrastructure with business needs

Skills:

The required skills in network troubleshooting and data center management are essential for diagnosing and resolving issues that may disrupt business operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory allows the IT Engineer to manage user accounts and ensure secure access to resources. Knowledge of video conferencing systems is critical for facilitating effective communication, especially in a hybrid work environment. Understanding TCP/IP protocols and virtualization technologies enables the engineer to optimize network performance and resource allocation. Overall, these skills are applied daily to ensure that the IT infrastructure supports the organization's goals and enhances productivity.
