We are looking for an experienced Industrial Project Manager (PM) to join our team. The PM will plan, direct, and coordinate activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems of the Industrial Projects of Sun Mechanical in the Casa Grande and Phoenix areas. The PM will participate in the conceptual development of mechanical construction projects and oversee their organization, scheduling, budgeting, QA/QC, safety, and implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review project documents, budget, schedule, and understand scope.
- Maintains strong standing relationships with clients and coworkers.
- Perform buyout of materials, equipment, and subcontracts.
- Create and submit a schedule of values for billing.
- Review and approve field material orders.
- Review and approve material, equipment, and subcontractor submittals.
- Issue current project documents to field employees.
- Track material and equipment lead times to meet schedule.
- Review project with foremen, safety, CAD, and purchasing.
- Review manpower requirements and update schedule as needed.
- Track labor hours and dollars spent, material dollars spent, and subcontractor progress.
- Coordinate labor adjustments with field superintendents as required.
- Submit change orders for additional work as required.
- Issue requests for information (RFI) as required.
- Respond to RFIs from other project stakeholders.
- Visit jobsites regularly with project stakeholders via email, phone, or in person.
- Submit monthly progress payment applications.
- Maintain electronic records of all key project documents including but not limited to: change orders, RFIs, daily field reports, startup forms, WIP reports, monthly billings, purchase orders, vendor quotes, submittals, etc.
- Attend meetings (both in the office and on jobsites).
- Maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, and engineers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The PM supervises project through the planning and scheduling of work, and the review and approval of tasks. Supervises support staff.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Four years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of four years of experience in the construction industry is required.
Other Skills and Abilities
Computer proficiency, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be able to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed with minimal notice. Valid AZ driver’s license required.
30-hour OSHA Construction Industry Training preferred. Additional trainings in common industry subjects (Asbestos Awareness, Excavation, First Aid/CPR, Competent Person Fall Protection, etc.) recommended.
In addition to creating “Shop” drawings for fabrication, you will be responsible for creating and reading detailed installation plans for Plumbing and Mechanical (Hydronic) Piping, and HVAC. Providing consistent and accurate material take-offs for purchasing is essential to this role. 3D modeling and navigating combined trade models in a 3D environment for coordination both internally and externally.
