What You'll Do:
As the Lead Paint Technician – SME, you'll be the go-to expert on professional spray gun techniques and finishing standards. You'll lead a team of painters, train them on best practices, and ensure consistent, high-quality finishes on composite parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate daily painting operations (manual and robotic).
- Train team members on spray gun techniques, surface prep, and troubleshooting.
- Perform and oversee application of primers, basecoats, and topcoats using HVLP and air-assisted systems.
- Supervise robotic painting systems and ensure quality alignment.
- Inspect painted parts for defects and ensure adherence to specifications.
- Maintain spray booths and enforce safety and PPE protocols.
- Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to resolve coating issues.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
What You Bring:
- Expertise in HVLP, airless, or air-assisted spray systems.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation, masking, and finishing.
- Ability to train others and lead a team effectively.
- Automotive or high-finish painting experience is a strong plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
- 3–5 years of hands-on spray painting experience; 1–2 years in a leadership role preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a PPE-required environment.
