Overview
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated and detail-oriented Family Law Attorney with a minimum of five (5) years of New Jersey family law experience, to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding and working knowledge of New Jersey family practices and substantive law. This role involves heavy client contact, and the ability to autonomously handle your assigned cases from beginning to end, including the trial of a case. The responsibilities and duties will include, but not be limited to the following:
- A full understanding of the Family Law Case Information Statement (CIS)
- Conduct of various forms of hearings and trials - i.e.- Domestic Violence hearings for the Victim and the Defendant; full divorce trials; FD hearings.
- Full knowledge of Motion Practice, both pre- and post-judgment matters.
- Conduct Mediations with clients in proceedings such as ESP's, mandatory economic mediations, as well as private mediator sessions with client.
- Legal research and writing of briefs and memorandums of law.
- Preparation, filing, and arguing of pendente lite motions and Orders to Show Cause.
- Conduct thorough research on family law issues, including custody, divorce, and support matters.
- Draft legal documents such as Complaints, Answers and Counterclaims, motions, and discovery requests.
- Meet with clients to review and complete discovery responses.
- Maintain and keep up to date on your case calendar.
- Utilize Westlaw for legal research and case law analysis.
- Collaborate with attorneys to develop case strategies and prepare for litigation.
- Stay informed about changes in family law regulations, statutes, and procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience as a family law attorney in New Jersey.
- Strong knowledge of New Jersey family law principles and procedures.
- Proficient in legal drafting and document preparation.
- Experience using legal research tools such as Westlaw
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
This location of the position is intended to be at our Brielle office in Monmouth County, however, we will also consider some time in our Middlesex County office located on Amboy Avenue in Metuchen, New Jersey.
