Job Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing and executing various financial and accounting functions, including financial reporting, reconciliations, analysis, and compliance. The applicant hired will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the organization's financial data and assisting the Controller and CFO to complete a variety of important routine accounting tasks. Please note, this role is FULLY ONSITE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support with General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functions
  • Review Purchase Orders, process RMAs, and enter Credit Memos in the accounting software
  • Review and approve expenses incurred and paid by company cards in the expense module
  • Serve as a trained back-up for processing of vendor bills and check runs
  • Create monthly adjusting entries to reclass overhead expenses
  • Help maintain depreciation and amortization schedules as needed
  • Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations for bank and other financial accounts
  • Assist in physical inventory checks and adjustments
  • Maintain cost reports for company's Live Event revenue stream
  • Generate monthly commission schedules
  • Help maintain compliance with state and local government bodies by Filing Annual Reports
  • Renewing of licenses, registering for Sales tax, etc. (Guidance provided)
  • Serve as a trained back-up for bi-weekly payroll processing, and submitting to Paychex (Payroll includes multi-state employees and prevailing wage structures)
  • Research applicable prevailing wage rate for new projects
  • Occasionally assist with the preparation of certified payroll reports related to prevailing wage projects

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with progressive responsibilities
  • Knowledge with Paychex and/or Paychex Flex software preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting principles
  • Proficiency in accounting software, ERP Systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of Job Costing concepts (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of relevant tax laws and regulations
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion
