Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Supervisor (G2P) with a strong background in electrical/electronic assembly and manufacturing. In this role, you will lead a team of Line Leads and Assemblers, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining quality and safety standards. This position is integral to the production and shipment of electronic products and involves daily coordination with Purchasing, Engineering, Customer Service, and other internal departments.

Position Duties and Responsibilities (including but are not limited to):

  • Lead a team of assembly line workers to achieve production goals.
  • Collaborate with Plant Leader to schedule and prioritize assembly tasks.
  • Ensure timely and efficient utilization of resources to meet production targets.
  • Continuously assess and improve assembly line processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Train new employees in assembly and packing techniques required to assure consistent quality.
  • Enforce and promote a culture of safety by ensuring adherence to safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Communicates unexpected component shortages and schedule delays to Plant Leader.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with Plant Leader, Production Foreperson, Warehouse Supervisor, and cross-functional teams.
  • Report production status, challenges, and achievements to Plant Leader.
  • Ensures that employees adhere to policies regarding the published Code of Conduct
  • Plans, directs, and assigns duties to assemblers and related personnel to assure compliance with production schedules.
  • Trains subordinates in the assembly techniques required to assure consistent quality.
  • Maintains the plant area in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Troubleshoots production problems and implements corrective action.
  • Delegates tasks as appropriate to ensure opportunities for development of subordinates.
  • Ensures that employees adhere to policies as regards attendance, tardiness, and full Code of Conduct, as well as setting an appropriate example for reports.
  • Keeps returned material related to department at a minimum through disassembly and shipment.
  • Participates in performance reviews, pay for performance, employee counseling, and progressive discipline as requested by plant manager.
  • Ensures that all work cells and individual production staff work as a cohesive unit across the plant floor.
  • Some plant maintenance and service functions as well as running tool repairs as required to maintain production flow.
  • Supervise daily operations of the production floor, ensuring schedules and deadlines are met.
  • Lead, train, and support assembly line personnel to uphold quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
  • Prioritize and assign work in coordination with Plant Leader.
  • Troubleshoot production and process issues, including electrical/electronic testing challenges, and implement timely corrective actions.
  • Enforce company policies and Code of Conduct; address attendance, performance, and disciplinary concerns as needed.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste and improving productivity.
  • Ensure 5S compliance and maintain a clean, safe, and organized production environment.
  • Report production progress and issues regularly to Plant Leader.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure electrical assemblies are tested and meet quality standards prior to shipment.
  • Assist with general plant maintenance and tool repairs as needed.

Talents and Qualifications (Required):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing assembly environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate activities across cross-functional and diverse teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to process improvement.
  • Working knowledge of Sales Orders, Bills of Material and Pick Lists.
  • Capable of achieving results in a self-directed, self-motivated, environment.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
  • Adheres to policies regarding published Code of Conduct.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sufficient listening, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and add value as a team member.
  • Ability to perform tasks with moderate supervision.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or lead-person role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional relevant certifications or degrees
  • Proven experience in manufacturing assembly with a track record of increasing responsibility.
  • Electrical applications (circuitry) or lighting experience
  • Experience in a mixed mode (stock, make-to-order, configure-to-order) is desirable but not required.
  • Degree or technical certifications in electronics, electrical systems, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Previous experience with lighting systems, PCB assembly, or similar electronic products.
  • Experience in a mixed production model (stock, make-to-order, configure-to-order).

Essential Job Functions

  • Stationary Position: Must be able to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the time.
  • Moving, Traversing: Must be able to occasionally move about the office and production areas to access equipment, tools, files, and machinery.
  • Operating, Using: Constantly operates computers and standard office/production equipment such as calculators, printers, soldering stations, and handheld tools.
  • Communicating, Expressing Oneself: Must be able to communicate information and ideas clearly and effectively so others can understand, including during training, team collaboration, and problem resolution.
  • Perceiving, Identifying, Observing: Requires the ability to observe details at close range, particularly during inspection, quality control, and component-level assembly tasks.

Physical Demands

  • Able to bend, squat, twist, climb stairs and lift.
  • While performing the duties of this position the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, talk and listen with occasional bending, stooping, crouching and kneeling.
  • Regularly required to use hands to fingers.
  • Duties require use of computer software and equipment that involve regularly sitting for extended periods of time and repetitive hand movements.
  • Frequently required to walk, sit, stand, talk and hear.
  • Duties require use of hands to fingers and at times the ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and lift.
  • Duties require use of computer software and equipment that will require sitting for periods of time and repetitive hand movements.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry and move objects between 20 to 40 lbs. with occasional weights of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for up to 9 hours a day.
  • Ability of occasional use of pallet jack for movement of products and powered lift trucks.
  • Ability to frequently walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, and lift up to 40 lbs (occasionally 50 lbs).
  • Capability to work at standing workstations up to 9 hours per shift.
  • Regular use of hands for detailed tasks: soldering, wiring, small component assembly.
  • Use of hand tools including battery-operated drills, screwdrivers, pliers, and similar.
  • Occasional use of PPE, chemical sealants, and spray paint; facemasks may be required.
  • Operation of pallet jacks and powered lift equipment as needed.
  • Supervision of Mechanical and Electrical assembly work, including electrical testing of assemblies and individual component items.
  • Packing, shipping and general maintenance/housekeeping as required for day-today operation of production facility.
  • Component insertion and soldering of printed circuit boards and assemblies.
  • Occasional operation of electric drills, drill presses, sanding belts and radial arm saw.
  • Ability to stand at workbenches for 9 hours a day.
  • Assembly tools include the continuous use of battery operated hand drills, screwdrivers, pliers, tweezers and occasional use of other hand tools.
  • Hand assembly of small hardware items (nuts and screws), twist or push on wire connectors and the application of tape and masking material.
  • Occasional use of facemasks and application of chemical sealants and compounds and spray painting.
  • Use of computer equipment
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend and stoop with regular use of hands to fingers.

The production environment is climate controlled; however, occasional exposure to ambient temperatures will occur.
