Job Description
Quality "Plus" Services is seeking full-time Electrical Estimator with a minimum of 5 years of commercial/industrial electrical estimating experience.
Applicants must have abilities in reading and interpreting electrical plans and specifications with knowledge of the NFPA codes, understanding of current electrical codes and installation methods, and be well-versed in the installation of power systems.
- 5+ years related experience and/or training
- Microsoft Office experience and demonstrated ability on the creation of custom spreadsheets
- Knowledge and ability to use Accubid Electrical Estimating Software
- Knowledge and ability with materials costs and discounts
- Increasing knowledge of NEC Code and understanding of how to apply
- Knowledge and ability to compute electrical construction materials and installation methods
- Knowledge and ability to interpret drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge and ability to take an estimate from beginning to end
- Ability to commit to and meet deadlines
- Knowledge and ability to forecast project costs, working under immediate supervision
- Increasing knowledge and ability to manage multiple job tasks simultaneously
- Very good organizational and communication skills
Desired Skills and Experience
- 10 years of industrial electrical estimating experience.
- Experience with estimating I&C, LSS, and telecommunication.
- Working knowledge of electrical installation, estimating techniques, and cost control
- High computer proficiency (MS Office, Excel specifically).
- A team player that works well with others.
- Proficiency 3D Models to navigate project for measurements and other detail.
Pre-employment drug screen and background check required.
Responsibilities
- Learns how to review RFP (Request for Proposal-Pricing) or ITB (Invitation to Bid) for thorough understanding of the customer's project, customer’s project needs and the project’s dates/deliverables
- Contacts vendors and subcontractors; Sends customer requirements to vendors for vendor quotes; Prices out labor costs
- Begins to learn and gain working knowledge of bid forms with breakdowns, attends pre-bid meetings, site visits or other pre-requisites
- Must be able to walk down projects during all phases until completion.
- Meets and makes notes with in-house support, follows up on action items
- Codes all job costs accurately and thoroughly
- Provides support for large change order requests on a given project
- Completes the Estimating Checklist for all items to be addressed in every estimate, proposal and bid per Workflow
- Reviews bid documents for all requirements, takeoff plans.
- Upon receipt of Notice to Proceed, Notice of Award, or Contract, alerts Preconstruction Manager to turn the project over to the Operations Department for Contract Review
