Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Location: Batavia, IL

Pay: $25-$30/hr.
Hire Type: Year Long Contract with Benefits
Shift: 1st Shift (Occasional Overtime May Be Required)

Sterling Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to support an exciting project with a client of ours out in Batavia, IL.  This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to advanced accelerator technologies alongside scientists and engineers in a state-of-the-art research facility.

Job Duties:

• Perform assembly/disassembly of mechanical components using hand tools

• Follow written assembly procedures and technical drawings, including accurate data entry of completed tasks

• Use basic PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting

• Support grinding, cutting, soldering, and other hands-on mechanical tasks

• Operate within lab protocols and safety guidelines, including safe handling of chemicals and adhesives

• Work under direction of engineers, scientists, and senior technicians on precision and general mechanical work

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Must have either a REAL ID or a valid U.S. passport

• 1+ years of hands-on mechanical or assembly experience preferred

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

• Experience with hand tools and basic mechanical repair

• Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel

• Comfortable with grinding, cutting, soldering, and lifting up to 40 lbs

• Must be able to work safely with epoxies, solvents, glues, and other industrial chemicals

• Willingness to work occasional overtime with short notice
