Job Description

Position Summary:

A confidential medical device manufacturer is seeking a technically inclined Product Manager to serve as a critical link between engineering, clinical, marketing, and customer-facing teams. This role is ideal for someone with an engineering or manufacturing background who is looking to expand into a strategic, customer-facing position.

The Product Manager will drive product strategy, translate customer needs into development requirements, and serve as the central hub for internal and external product communication. This is not a traditional marketing role—deep technical aptitude and the ability to interact cross-functionally are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the voice of the customer, representing market needs and clinical insights across engineering, sales, and marketing teams

  • Lead and support product development from concept through launch, including product strategy, roadmapping, R&D, and testing

  • Build prototypes, propose new features, and suggest product improvements based on direct market feedback

  • Translate complex technical data into clear, actionable communication for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Conduct site visits, attend trade shows, and meet directly with customers to gather and interpret feedback

  • Partner closely with marketing to support messaging, positioning, and sales enablement materials

  • Ensure the product development lifecycle reflects real-world use cases, customer requirements, and quality standards

  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for assigned product lines

  • Travel approximately 40%, including customer meetings, trade shows, and field research

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Nursing, or related field required

  • 2+ years of experience in product management, technical liaison, or product development

  • Experience in medical devices, healthcare, or acute care environments is highly desirable

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts

  • Background in new product development and familiarity with stage gate processes

  • Technically confident—able to interpret data, respond to detailed product inquiries, and collaborate with engineering

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A technically trained professional (e.g., engineer or clinician) who thrives in customer-facing environments

  • Curious and driven by the “why” behind product decisions

  • Comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution

  • Enjoys working in a cross-functional setting with multiple departments and stakeholders

Additional Details:

  • Onsite position in Indianapolis, IN—must be local or willing to relocate

  • Works in tandem with a marketing-focused PM counterpart

  • Interview process includes: Teams call with hiring manager, PI assessment, and onsite interview
