JOB SUMMARY:

Provide prescribed patient care under the supervision of a physician. Conduct complete physicals, provide treatment, and counsel patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Comply with all applicable federal, state, and municipal laws, statutes, ordinances, and regulations, and all applicable rules and regulations of the Oregon Medical Board, and the ethical standards of the American and Oregon Medical Associations.

·         Maintain a valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

·         Remain in good standing with the Oregon Medical Board and at local hospitals and ambulatory surgery center. Failure to do so may result in termination of employment.

·         Performs comprehensive, problem focused history and physical exams with the highest degree of competence and accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Interpret and correlate all data, to include, laboratory, and diagnostic procedures. Formulate a treatment plan for orthopedic problems within scope of practice. Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate. Exercise judgement on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopedic Surgeon.

·         Order, collect, and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens, EMG, X-ray, CT, MRI, and bone scans.

·         Assist in surgery, conduct hospital rounds, write orders, and formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for hospitalized patients. Dictate history and physicals, discharge summaries, and other hospital notes.

·         Take calls as assigned by the group.

·         Perform procedures such as but not limited to digital blocks, minor outpatient surgical procedures, wound management, and fracture care.

·         Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures and dislocations, injections of joints, tendons, trigger points and bursa, as well as brace, cast, and splint applications.

·         Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medications, orthosis, orthotics, braces and other orthopedic devices as needed within scope of practice.

·         Promptly complete and maintain medical and billing records.

·         Encourage and expected to attend education seminars, professional meetings, and to participate in organized professional activities approved by employer.

·         Work harmoniously with others.

·         Notify Director of Clinical Services of any equipment at employer site that is defective, inoperative, or in disrepair.

·         Notify employer if served a subpoena, court order or notice of deposition.

·         Notify employer if a malpractice claim has been or may be brought against employee.

·         Notify employer if employee has been excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other state or federal health program.

·         Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.

Education and Experience:

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current Oregon Occupational Therapy license, CHT.
