 About JA-Rocky Mountain

JA-Rocky Mountain is part of the world’s largest organization dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy. In partnership with schools, businesses, foundations, other non-profits, and individuals this regional operation provides programs to students Kindergarten through 12th grade and young adults up to age 25 in the northern half of Colorado and Wyoming. JA programs are implemented by volunteers and are provided to schools and students at no cost thanks to the generosity of volunteers and donors. Position Description

In this position, you will play a key role in creating successful educational experiences for teens in JA Finance Park. The park is a 6,400 square-foot immersive budgeting simulation located in Greenwood Village.  Teens become “adults” for the day, budgeting for items like insurance, childcare, home mortgages, transportation, utilities, and more, learning important lessons about financial responsibility along the way from staff and volunteer role models. A virtual version of JA Finance Park is also available for students.

 You will be responsible for facilitating the JA Finance Park simulation when the park is occupied with students, teachers, and volunteers. You will also assist with pre-visit logistics and the JA Finance Park Virtual simulation. Additionally, you will support daily operations for the program and work alongside other JA team members. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Experiential Learning.

 Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead instructional content for middle and high school students to succeed during their JA Finance Park visit

• Train and support volunteers who serve as role models for students.

• Collaborate with the JA Finance Park team to assure each stakeholder group has an excellent experience

• Model facilitation strategies to help students and volunteers be effective

 • Provide necessary end of day reporting and information for future program planning

 • Perform data entry tasks to ensure accurate and timely input of information

• Participate and take initiative in the planning, organization and implementation of goals associated with the overall JA Rocky Mountain mission and vision                                                                               

• Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, educators, and students

• Meet deadlines given by the Senior Manager of Experiential Learning on projects and duties

• Assist with daily cleanup activities and tasks to prepare for the next group of students

Qualifications:

 • Strong public speaking and presentation skills

 • Strong people skills, with an ability to connect with teens and adults

 • Experience and enthusiasm working with youth

• Familiarity and comfort with technology

• Knowledge of, and sensitivity to, issues prevalent in under-resourced communities

• Strong time management skills and ability to multitask and work collaboratively

• Self-motivated and self-directed

• Passion for JA’s mission  

Physical/Other Expectations:

• Ability to occasionally move equipment (up to 50 lbs.)

• Associates should have reliable transportation to and from the JA Finance Park facility at 6500 Greenwood Plaza Blvd., Greenwood Village, CO  

 • Ability to pass required background check

 Terms of Employment:

Compensation and Benefits:

• The hourly salary range for this position is $23.00-$27.00. The salary will be commensurate with skill level and applicable experience.

 Work Considerations for Part-Time Employment:

• This position is part-time and should not exceed 1,000 hours per year.

 • This position aligns to the standard academic calendar, approximately August - May with very few hours in the Summer.                                                                           

• The position entails 20-30 hrs/wk unless approved for additional hours.

 • Hours are expected to occur between 8:00a.m. and 2:30p.m. when the park is occupied.

 • When the park is not occupied, hours will be determined by the Senior Manager of Experiential Learning based on team and organizational needs.
