Systems Administrator Position

The Systems Administrator position’s primary responsibility is to provide remote and onsite support to our clients. This position interacts directly with clients and the professional services delivery team to solve and implement solutions. Work items range from Firewall Deployment, Workstation Support, Server Support, Workstation Deployment, Switch Deployment, and Support. The administrator is responsible for maintaining and managing computer systems, servers, networks, and software for small to medium-sized businesses to ensure they are stable, secure, and efficient. They also play a key role in planning and executing upgrades, and disaster recovery procedures. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Maintenance: Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems, servers, and related software. 
  • Network Management: Ensuring network stability, security, and performance, including managing firewalls, routers, and switches. 
  • User Support: Adding users to networks, managing access permissions, and providing technical support to users. 
  • Security: Implementing and maintaining security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls. 
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues. 
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing system resources. 
  • Disaster Recovery: Developing and implementing disaster recovery plans and procedures. 
  • Documentation: Creating and maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking protocols, server hardware, and virtualization technologies (like VMware or Hyper-V). 
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. 
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Security Awareness: Understanding of security best practices and the ability to implement and maintain security protocols. 
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines. 
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with other IT professionals and users. 
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing business needs.
