  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm

Position Overview:

As a Housing Specialist, you’ll help individuals and families experiencing homelessness secure and maintain safe, stable housing. More than just case management, you’ll advocate, educate, and problem-solve, connecting clients with landlords and support services to overcome housing barriers and build a brighter future.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Helping individuals and families find safe, permanent housing by assessing their needs and guiding them through the housing search process.
  • Problem- Solving challenges, such as past evictions, credit issues, rental barriers
  • Build strong relationships with landlords, and property managers to expand housing opportunities and secure placements.
  • Managing and Monitoring housing placements through a mix of office work and field visits ensuring a warm transition into a stable home that is safe and long term.
  • Advocating and providing hands-on support- assisting with rental applications, negotiating lease terms, and educating clients on tenant rights and responsibilities.
  • Promote recovery and/or wellness by ensuring residents adhere to their treatment plans, establish healthy routines that promote self-care.
  • Document accurately client goals, including challenges, and successes. Maintain case files, program reports, and ensure compliance with housing programs
  • Transport clients as needed for housing-related needs.

What we are looking for:

  • Compassionate and Empathetic individual who wants to make a difference.
  • Strong communicator and problem solver who can navigate barriers.
  • Organized and detailed orientated with the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
  • Tech Savy; ideally!
  • Previous experience in working with young adults, homeless individuals, or those struggling with mental illness or substance abuse is a plus!
  • Comfortable transporting clients to appointments.
  • Excellent Team collaborator.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent walking, sitting, bending, and occasional lifting may be required.
  • Must be comfortable working both in the office and out in the field

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field(or equivalent experience)
  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license with a clean driving record and personal vehicle with insurance.
  • Proficiency in computers (Microsoft Office, windows applications)
