We’re launching a brand-new, upscale dining destination on beautiful St. Simons Island that will celebrate New Southern Cuisine—where rich culinary heritage meets modern creativity. We're searching for a passionate, experienced, and dynamic Chef de Cuisine to help bring this vision to life and lead our kitchen from the ground up.

Position Summary

The Chef de Cuisine will be the creative and operational leader of the back-of-house team. You will be responsible for all aspects of kitchen operations, from menu development and team leadership to inventory management and execution of exceptional culinary experiences. We are seeking someone who thrives in a leadership role, values collaboration, and brings a modern approach to Southern cuisine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Menu Development: Design and execute an innovative menu that honors Southern culinary traditions while introducing modern twists and seasonal influences.

  • Team Leadership: Hire, train, supervise, and inspire a skilled kitchen team; foster a collaborative and respectful kitchen culture.

  • Kitchen Operations: Oversee daily kitchen operations including prep, execution, plating, quality control, and cleanliness.

  • BOH Management: Maintain food and labor costs within budget, manage ordering and inventory, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Culinary Standards: Set and maintain high standards for consistency, presentation, and taste across all dishes.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the front-of-house management and ownership to ensure alignment on guest experience and operational goals.

  • Innovation & Seasonality: Bring a passion for seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients and maintain flexibility to adjust offerings based on availability and guest feedback.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as Chef de Cuisine, Executive Chef, or Sous Chef in an upscale or fine-dining setting.

  • Deep knowledge of Southern cuisine and a passion for reinterpreting traditional flavors.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.

  • Solid understanding of BOH financials including food cost, labor, and waste control.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • ServSafe certification or equivalent required (or willing to obtain).
