Job Description

We are looking to hire a fire alarm inspector. Experience with fire alarm systems is preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual.  A fire alarm inspector is responsible for inspecting fire alarm systems to ensure they comply with all local, state, and federal fire safety regulations. You will join our test and inspection team and be held to a high standard. If your standards are low, please do not apply. 

Requirements:

  • Must have valid state driver's license and good driving record
  • Develop working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards.
  • Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
  • Complete assigned inspections on time.
  • Be an effective team member
  • Work under pressure in meeting scheduled time frames without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Test and inspect fire alarm systems per NFPA 72 requirements. 
  • Input, retrieve and archive inspection reports via laptop computer.
  • Verify correct signals with central stations. 
  • Document and photograph all deficiencies. 
  • Identify and document preventative maintenance. 
  • Collect and provide all pertinent information for correcting deficiencies or preventative maintenance.
  • Complete hard copy work orders in detail. 
  • Make minor repairs and programming changes to systems being inspected.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain and manage truck inventory. 
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Provide technical training to less senior inspectors and trainees.

 


Qualifications:

  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals.
  • Experience with hand tools including a multimeters and battery testers.
  • Demonstrates an aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Able to obtain and retain FASA certification in Florida.  
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Self-starter that can work with little to no supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
