Director of Human Resources
Summary: The Human Resources Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the company’s mission and talent strategy within all 12 states. Additionally, the Human Resources Director will oversee the company HR strategy and operations, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and compliance. They develop policies to attract, retain, and develop staff, advise leadership on workforce planning, and ensure legal and ethical workplace practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with key department and functional leaders to understand the current and future business challenges, gain trust and build credibility. Understands the short- and long-term goals of the business including talent & organizational capabilities.
- Maintains compliance with and has strong working knowledge of all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations including, but not limited to the FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, ADEA, COBRA, and ADA.
- Conduct investigations, provide guidance on performance conduct matters, facilitate the resolution of disputes, interpret company policy, etc.
- Manage and lead full cycle recruiting efforts (including sourcing passive candidates, scheduling interviews, gathering feedback, and offer negotiation).
- Stay abreast on changes to employment laws, payroll, employee benefits, and human resource policies and procedures.
- Responsible for overall benefit administration including annual renewal, benefit negotiations, broker relationship management, and compliance.
- Utilize salary survey data to ensure the company maintains a competitive position in the marketplace for compensation and benefits.
- Makes recommendations to leadership team on organizational policy matters, procedures and practices relating to employee/employment issues.
- Responsible for preparation, distribution and review of annual performance reviews
- Directs the development and administration of company-wide human resources policies and practices in accordance with stated corporate objectives and state and federal legal requirements.
- Advises and assists senior management on human resources management issues.
- Oversee management of controversial and sensitive staff issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of HR experience.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is desirable.
- Thorough understanding of human resources principles and practices, including employment law, Affirmative Action, and EEO compliance.
- In – depth Knowledge of California Law a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Ability to exercise autonomy, independent judgment and decision making; providing sound recommendations to resolve issues and mitigate risk.
- Ability to review and assess analytical data as well as compile data, prepare reports and determine course of action based on analytics.
- Knowledge of HRIS Payroll System ADP.
- Required to travel throughout the year as needed.
- Benefits experienced required. Must have experience with designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive employe benefits programs including health, wellness, retirement, and leave policies, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while aligning with organizational goals and budget.
- Required to work 4 days a week in the office at our Carlstadt, NJ location.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay Range: $130,000 – $150,000 a year depending on experience.
