  • Monitor and analyze legislation, regulatory actions, and public policy developments that impact client interests.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive government affairs strategies in coordination with clients and internal legal teams.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with elected officials, government staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Draft policy briefs, legislative summaries, and advocacy materials tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to clients on political, legislative, and regulatory issues.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and professionals across the firm to integrate legal, regulatory, and government affairs considerations.

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or legislative advocacy—preferably with a focus on Tennessee state government.
  • Direct working experience with the Tennessee General Assembly and executive branch, including familiarity with processes, key players, and relevant state departments and agencies.
  • Strong network and established relationships with elected officials, government staff, and influential community stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a proactive mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Deep understanding of Tennessee’s political landscape and business climate.
  • Demonstrated success in coalition building and stakeholder engagement.
  • Prior experience working with or within law firms, lobbying firms, government agencies, or public policy organizations.
