As a Community Empowerment Coach (Direct Support Professional), you'll play a vital role in empowering adults with developmental disabilities to thrive and achieve their fullest potential. This isn't just a job – it's an opportunity to be a mentor, a guide, and a champion for the individuals you support, helping them build independence, connect with their community, and reach their personal goals.
What You'll Do:

- Provide Person-Centered Support: Offer direct, compassionate care and support tailored to each individual's unique needs and aspirations.
- Empower Growth: Implement individualized learning plans, providing engaging guidance and training to help individuals master new skills and achieve their objectives outlined in their Person-Centered Plan (PCP).
- Champion Community Inclusion: Facilitate meaningful participation in community activities, fostering connections and enriching experiences.
- Navigate Challenges with Confidence: Utilize effective crisis management techniques to de-escalate situations and ensure the safety and well-being of those you support.
- Document Progress and Celebrate Milestones: Maintain clear and insightful progress notes, tracking achievements and contributing to a comprehensive understanding of each individual's journey.
- Unlock Potential Through Positive Approaches: Implement positive behavior support strategies, drawing upon principles of applied behavior analysis to encourage growth and skill development.
- Offer Skilled Behavior Support: Provide proactive and responsive behavior management interventions, always focusing on respect and understanding.
- Cultivate Independence: Support individuals in developing essential life skills, from daily living activities to pursuing personal interests and passions.
What You'll Bring:
- A valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record (minimum 3 years verifiable history).
- Reliable personal transportation and a willingness to use it for the role (we offer a generous monthly vehicle stipend to support you!).
- A high school diploma or equivalent as a foundation; further education in special education, social work, or a related field is a significant plus!
- A genuine passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. At least one year of experience in this or a related field is highly valued.
- Exceptional crisis management skills and the ability to remain calm, focused, and solution-oriented in dynamic situations.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with individuals, families, and team members.
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to thrive as part of a supportive team.
- The ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screenings, including fingerprinting clearance, a physical exam, and TB testing.
