Objective

The CNC Porta tool setter presets tooling to assure no down time and ample tooling is supplied in a timely manner. The Tool Setter operates the CMM to verify machined parts are conforming to print tolerances, and tool offsets were correct. This position operates under flexible parameters. The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of the position. Providing the highest quality product safely, effectively, and efficiently decreases accidents and errors and increase profits.

Essential Functions

· Ability to follows rules, instructions, guidelines, and all other duties as assigned.

· Team player with ability to interact with all departments.

· Responsible for running CNC mills (Porta) when needed.

· Complete machine tool adjustments.

· Complete insert replacement on indexable tooling.

· Responsible for the pre-setting tools by use of the Zoller heat shrink equipment.

· Ability to input tooling offsets into the Porta equipment produced by the Zoller tool setter.

· Responsible to use CMM measuring equipment for forging verification.

· Operate common inspection and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gages, as well as other specialized inspection and measurement equipment, such as comparators, CMM, as applicable.

· Lift 50 lbs. and use a pallet jack, operate small hand tools for deburring and cutting or as directed.

· Work hours as posted, being on time and at the place of work at the start of the shift.

· Move product in and out of the department by use of a forklift.

Required Education and Experience

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Mechanical aptitude

· 5+ years of CNC Machine Operation experience

· Lift up to 50lb boxes

· Ability to perform at high levels in a fast pace constantly changing environment.

· Ability to work as part of a team.

· Ability to work overtime hours.

Preferred Skills

· Reading blueprints

· Proficient on a Tow Motor

· Skilled with measurement instruments: Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gages, Optical Comparators

· Ability to see small parts, burrs, radius, and handheld tools.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
