Position Title: Conservatory Vocal Faculty

Department: Conservatory/Education

Reports to: Director of Conservatory Ops

FLSA Designation: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

POSITION PURPOSE:

Conservatory vocal faculty are responsible for the teaching, demonstration, and administering of vocal performance lessons. Faculty will work with students on challenges, goals, and help prepare students for two vocal recitals a year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.

  1. Provide quality vocal instruction to students from introductory to advanced lessons.
  2. Provide ongoing verbal evaluation on progress in various areas of vocal performance.
  3. Attend professional development sessions and staff meetings as required.
  4. Carry out administrative responsibilities when applicable. (eg. organization-wide trainings, etc.)
  5. Participate in planning and debriefing meetings as needed.
  6. Assist in managing and executing dress rehearsal and performances for applicable student presentations.
  7. Guide and coach students towards a culminating presentation (as applicable).
  8. Other duties and assignments as requested.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  1. Ability to stand for long periods of time (upwards of 5 hours) and climb stairs repeatedly.
  2. Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, balance, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel.
  3. Ability to move throughout theatre environment and building, and continuously perform essential functions for an extended period of time.
  4. Ability to see details at close range.
  5. Ability to clearly perceive and understand spoken words, often in a variety of situations, which could include listening to customer inquiries, following instructions, or detecting alarms in a work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree in related performing arts fields. Master's degree in arts or education preferred.
  2. Classroom management skills.
  3. 5+ years teaching or working with youth in an educational setting.
