Keo & Associates is a General Contractor/Construction Manager and Design Build Company with offices in Detroit, Chicago and Indiana whose primary projects consist of Commercial Construction.
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the project team in the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects. This role serves as a key liaison between the field and office, ensuring that all technical aspects of construction are carried out accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
The Project Engineer
Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with daily project coordination and administration.
Maintain and track project schedules, RFI logs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes.
Review and manage construction documents including drawings, specifications, and addenda.
Interface with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely communication and resolution of issues.
Coordinate procurement of materials and long-lead items.
Support cost control efforts, including tracking quantities, reviewing subcontractor invoices, and change order management.
Assist in preparing and maintaining project budgets and cost forecasts.
Ensure proper document control protocols and maintain up-to-date records on project management software (Procore, Bluebeam).
Conduct site walks to monitor progress and support field staff with technical information.
Participate in job site meetings and prepare comprehensive meeting notes and reports.
Promote and enforce company safety policies and assist with job hazard analysis documentation.
Assist with project close-out, punch list management, and turnover documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
2+ years of experience in commercial construction or construction management with a general contractor.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, MS Project).
Strong understanding of construction means and methods, safety standards, and building codes.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Team-oriented with a proactive, solution-driven mindset.
Willingness to work onsite and travel locally to project locations as needed.
