Key Responsibilities
As a Development Director, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day execution of our projects, with duties including:
Project Coordination: Collaborating with internal teams, municipal departments, and external consultants (environmental, geotechnical, design, and legal) to ensure seamless project progression.
Documentation & Tracking: Assisting in the creation and diligent tracking of project schedules, budgets, and all design and development documents, including thorough document review.
Permitting & Entitlement Support: Playing a key role in guiding undeveloped land and existing structures from initial site selection through to obtaining final permits for construction.
Construction Support: Assisting with various aspects of construction management, including coordination with contractors, inspectors, engineers, and master developers.
Design Review: Reviewing and contributing to value engineering of construction documents to optimize project outcomes.
Research & Analysis: Conducting research on zoning ordinances, jurisdictional regulations, and comprehensive plans to inform project strategy.
Feasibility & Reporting: Assisting with site analysis, feasibility studies, and the preparation of other development and tenant reports.
Conceptual Planning: Supporting the creation of conceptual site plans for both single and multi-tenant development opportunities.
Preferred Education and Experience
Educational Background: In the absence of qualified experience, a minimum of an Associate's degree in an engineering-related field, construction management, or a similar qualified program is required. A Bachelor's degree is a plus.
Professional Experience: Some land planning and/or project management experience within a construction or development firm, or other related industry experience, is preferred.
Technical Skills: Civil engineering or landscape architecture experience is strongly preferred. Familiarity with relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS, project management software) is a plus.
Core Competencies:
Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Proactive and eager to learn, with a strong ability to take direction and adapt to new challenges.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The Durban Group began as a commercial real estate development company in 2011, specializing in single tenant net lease properties. Since then, it has developed hundreds of such properties across the United States and, through Durban Development, expanded to become a full service real estate company, developing larger scale commercial, residential, and mixed use projects. But it has also grown to be much more.
The Durban Group’s growing portfolio also includes an array of operating businesses - everything from automotive and hospitality brands to manufacturing, retail and beyond. The team also lends its support to local nonprofit organizations such as Project 658 and the Steve Smith Family Foundation. In all of its endeavors, Durban seeks to forge lasting relationships with its clients, partners and the communities it serves.
