Major law firm is seeking a Litigation Paralegal specializing in Plaintiff-side personal injury to join its team.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Must possess a high level of proficiency with litigation databases, including Relativity and deposition transcript management databases
- Must possess a high level of expertise with cite-checking legal documents and utilizing The Bluebook
- Must possess a high level of proficiency with legal research databases (e.g
- Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law)
- Must possess a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have significant experience with court systems and court docketing websites (e.g. PACER, NYSCEF)
- Must have significant experience utilizing document management systems, file transfer platforms, mobile devices and basic information governance
- Must be able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
- Ability to protect and maintain confidential, privileged, or other sensitive information and materials in accordance with all Firm policies
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for extended periods of time
- Must have interpersonal and communication skills necessary to effectively liaise between attorneys, clients, various support departments and outside vendors
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal, including extensive trial experience
- Ideal candidate would be from an AmLaw 100 firm, government agency, or general counsel's office
- In-depth knowledge of State laws and legal procedures required
- Senior Paralegal with experience in either Employment Law or Personal Injury
- Proficienct in Excel
Responsibilities
- Drafting initial legal documents, including Complaints, letters, discovery demands, and mediation statements
- Managing Court filings and ensuring proper service in compliance with state regulations
- Conducting light legal research, referencing ECF, and gathering information on Defendants and companies
- Maintaining an organized calendar with a focus on deadlines
- Overseeing client management, from intakes to evidence collection
- Document organization in electronic folders
- Preparation of necessary documents for motions, e.g., Tables of Contents and exhibits
