JOB TITLE: Bartender
DEPARTMENT: Hospitality
REPORTS TO: Taproom Manager/Hospitality Manager
EFFECTIVE DATE: 01 July 2025
SUMMARY: This position requires a balance of experienced, guest-focused bartending and strong mixology skills, warm hospitality, and a willingness to learn across a diverse beverage program including beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic options. Bartenders will rotate through lounge table service shifts and bar shifts, creating elevated experiences whether behind the bar or tableside.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets patrons upon arrival; assists with seating as needed.
- Prepare classic and house cocktails with consistency, speed, and precision
- Takes orders accurately and courteously; responds to patrons’ questions regarding available products.
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of SPBC and our products
- Maintains complete knowledge of and strictly abides by state alcohol regulations; verifies legal drinking age of patrons as needed.
- Handles purchasing transactions, which include operating cash register and accounting of daily sales.
- Receives payment from patrons; makes change as needed; issues receipts.
- Serves, refills, takes orders, clears and resets tables in taproom and outdoor areas as needed.
- Prepares all bar and lounge supplies prior to opening.
- Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of all selections available and characteristics/description of all beer, cocktails, liquor and merchandise available and prices.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation at all times; performs closing clean-up duties.
- Resolves patron problems/complaints; utilizes own best judgement in resolving issues or refers to management as needed.
- Answers phone in a courteous and timely manner.
- Assists other staff members as needed to ensure optimum service to all patrons.
- Completes all necessary paperwork; maintains files and records.
- Attends regular taproom meetings, trainings and tastings to stay current in ongoing events.
- Attends on or offsite events as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or three-to-five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- ALE Certification required
- Certificates, licenses and registrations required: Cicerone Certification highly recommended.
- Computer skills required: Point of Sale (POS) Software and equipment, Internet Software
- Other skills required:
- Craft beer industry experience highly recommended. Followed with an interest to learn about beer, wine, spirits, and our NA beverage program
Minimum 1 year of cocktail bartending experience required
Excellent customer service skills, and a passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Professional appearance and demeanor
Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Must be 21+ years old.
