Hope Christian Services opened as Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat on December 4, 1972 as the only facility of its kind in the state of New Jersey. ECCR expanded into the community in 1986 with the development of community-based group homes, where residents enjoy supervised, supported living. In 1992 ECCR advanced its philosophy of providing a home-like setting for residents with the construction of on-site lodges.

About the Role:
The Inclusion Activities Coordinator designs and delivers meaningful, inclusive experiences that bring joy and connection to all participants—regardless of ability, background, or individual needs. This role blends creativity, compassion, and logistical know-how to ensure that every outing or event is welcoming, accessible, and enriching.
Core Responsibilities:
Champion Inclusivity
• Advocate for each resident’s access to recreation and leisure activities.
• Foster a welcoming, respectful, and engaging environment for all participants.
Plan Purposeful Activities
• Design and lead recreational outings tailored to residents’ unique interests, abilities, and goals—both on-site and within the broader community.
• Collaborate with Managers to develop meaningful and individualized leisure activities and community outings.
Ensure Seamless Logistics
• Identify and evaluate outing locations for accessibility, safety, and overall suitability.
• Develop detailed plans including schedules, accommodations, and contingency options.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to support smooth execution.
Lead with Communication & Collaboration
• Communicate clearly with residents, staff, and volunteers about upcoming events, accessibility needs, and safety protocols.
• Promote events to ensure diverse participation and broad community engagement.
Provide On-the-Ground Support
• Support participants during outings with attention to safety, well-being, and inclusion.
• Facilitate positive social interactions and adapt plans in real-time to meet participant needs.
• Assist residents with personal care and meals when necessary.
Drive Continuous Improvement
• Collect and analyze feedback from residents and staff to assess event success and identify opportunities for growth.
• Adjust plans and strategies to enhance future outings and ensure sustained accessibility and inclusivity.
Key Skills & Qualifications
• Proven planning and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication abilities
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities and diverse needs
• Deep understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive practices
• Flexible, empathetic, and solutions-oriented mindset
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Additional qualifications:
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs independently, ability to assist in a 2 person lift for residents, while using a Hoyer lift
• Hold a valid non-probational state drivers’ license to drive agency van to scheduled outings/activities.
• Bring individuals into the HCS pool during the summer months.
• Must submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to hire.
• Employee shall submit to drug testing prior to employment and employee shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause
• Must agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and Child Abuse Record Information
• Complete cooperation with the licensee (Hope Christian Services) and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation.
