Job Title: Community Support Associate
Location: Lower Manhattan, NY
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: Mornings 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a committed and compassionate individual to serve as a Community Support Associate, providing essential case management and supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges. The role is based in a supportive shelter environment located in Lower Manhattan.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct case management to a diverse caseload of adults with mental health needs.

• Assist clients in accessing public benefits and making referrals to appropriate treatment programs.

• Support clients in developing and practicing independent living skills, including hygiene, nutrition, budgeting, and transportation.

• Provide advocacy and escort clients to appointments related to entitlements, medical care, or housing.

• Facilitate weekly psychoeducational groups focused on wellness, coping skills, and community integration.

• Maintain thorough documentation including progress notes, group notes, and monthly statistical reporting.

• Participate actively in interdisciplinary case conferences, clinical team meetings, and staff trainings.

• Respond to emergencies and provide basic first aid/CPR as needed.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the program.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Experience working in shelter, mental health, or social services settings preferred.

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage a challenging caseload and respond effectively in crisis situations.

• Basic computer literacy and ability to maintain accurate records.

• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
