We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buyer in partnership with a client within the manufacturing field in Binghamton, NY. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, capable of working independently, and skilled in solving problems proactively. Strong communication is essential to thrive in this role.
Buyer Job Summary:
Pay: $21 – $25/ hour
Shift: Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Buyer Responsibilities:
Execute procurement activities in alignment with strategic sourcing goals.
Analyze MRP outputs to source materials in line with production schedules.
Generate and maintain purchase orders based on both MRP and manual requisitions.
Track supplier performance and regularly report insights to Supply Chain and Quality leadership.
Maintain accountability for material cost, delivery timelines, and inventory levels.
Address and resolve delivery delays to ensure minimal impact on operations.
Expedite orders and escalate issues as needed to keep up with shifting production demands.
Collaborate with Supplier Quality to resolve issues with non-conforming materials promptly.
Collaborate closely with various departments to align procurement and planning activities.
Monitor the market for new suppliers, cost trends, and emerging technologies. Utilizing the information to adjust strategies and enhance purchasing decisions.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers that align with the company’s goals.
Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and meet budgetary targets.
Buyer Qualifications:
High School Diploma/ GED
Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience
1-2 years’ experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment.
Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, or related technical discipline preferred.
Ability to collaborate effectively with all organizational levels.
Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with components, sub-assemblies, and metal fabrication processes.
Proven communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with precision and focus.
Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
Comfortable in high-pressure environments with shifting priorities.
