About Us:
Sunshine Residential Homes is a mission-driven organization dedicated to providing safe, supportive care to children in foster care. We are seeking a detail-oriented and people-focused HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team. This position plays a critical role in employee relations, payroll, compliance, and benefit administration, and serves as a key resource for our staff.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations:
    Act as a trusted resource for employees and managers, addressing concerns with professionalism and discretion. Promote a positive workplace culture. Assist in conflict resolution, policy guidance and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Payroll & Garnishments:
    Support biweekly payroll processing using Paylocity or similar systems. Process and track wage garnishments and ensure all related documentation is managed accurately and in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Ongoing DCS Compliance:
    Maintain employee files in alignment with Department of Child Safety (DCS) licensing standards, ensuring all background checks, fingerprint clearance cards, physicals, driving records, training documentation, etc are current and audit-ready.
  • Recruiting Oversight:
    Supervise the HR Recruiter, providing support, feedback, and guidance to ensure effective sourcing and hiring practices. Actively helping to recruit when necessary, verifying accuracy of I9 documentation, eligibility and new hire compliance.
  • Benefits & 401(k) Administration:
    Serve as the primary 401(k) plan administrator, handling employee enrollments, questions, and coordination with the third-party plan provider.
  • Workers’ Compensation:
    Act as the agency’s point of contact for workers’ compensation claims claims. Process reports, liaise with providers, and ensure timely communication and compliance.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of HR generalist or related experience
  • Solid knowledge of employee relations practices and conflict resolution
  • Experience processing payroll; Paylocity experience is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with garnishment laws, 401(k) plans, FMLA, Unemployment, ADA, EEOC reporting and workers’ compensation procedures
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism
  • Experience in a regulated setting (such as child welfare, education, or healthcare) is a plus
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable in a supervisory or mentoring role for junior HR staff
