Job Title: Field Service Technician – Water/Wastewater Utility Services
Location: Houston, TX 77049

Pay Range: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Shifts may vary)
On-Call: Required once a month

About the Role:

Link Staffing is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to support operations for a growing water utility company in the Greater Houston area. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in water system collection and distribution and be confident performing hands-on maintenance for water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure. This includes both underground utilities and facility-based maintenance.

This position plays a key role in ensuring the effective, efficient, and safe operations of multiple districts. Field Technicians will also participate in a rotating on-call schedule to address emergencies.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

General Tasks:

• Lift and carry equipment/materials weighing up to 50 lbs

• Perform accurate meter readings and verifications

• Locate and repair service line leaks (PVC and Poly)

• Perform meter installations, removals, turn-ons, and shut-offs

Facility Maintenance Tasks:

• Water plant operations and upkeep

• Wastewater treatment plant maintenance

• Lift station service and inspections

• Collection and distribution system maintenance

Underground Utility Support (May Assist With):

• Repairing water main leaks (¾” to 12”) at depths up to 10 feet

• Installing residential/commercial water taps and vaults

• Extending and relocating water lines

• Fire hydrant repairs and installations

• Performing sewer point repairs (3” to 12”) including mains, laterals, and private lines

• Installing residential/commercial sewer taps

• Extending and relocating sewer lines

• Conducting manhole rehabilitation and installations

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous water utility experience required (Collection & Distribution Systems)

• Water meter reading or plumbing experience highly preferred

• Valid Texas driver’s license with clean driving record (MVR)

• Must pass a comprehensive background check

• Comfortable working outdoors in various conditions

• Proficient in basic hand tool use

Technology & Systems Knowledge (Preferred):

• Microsoft Office Suite

• Drop Box

• Service Fusion (Work Order Program)

• Birdnest Data Management

• GIS

• Any CMMS platform used for Public Works or Water Utilities

Preferred Skills:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish (not required but preferred)

• Ability to follow technical instructions and maintain accurate service records

• Strong communication skills and customer service mindset
