Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Inside Machinist (Large Machine Operator) 2's for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

Five years minimum experience as an Inside-Shop Machinist. Recommended Skills: Safety orientated. Proficient with Numerical Controlled Processes, Manual Data Input, Tooling Offsets, Conversation Controllers, etc. Operate Manual and/or NC machines such as: lathes, mills, horizontal & vertical machining centers, EDMs, etc. Proficient with controllers such as: Fanuc, Siemens, Acramatic, Cincinnati-Milacron, etc. Proficient with the use of precision measuring instruments: outside/inside micrometers, depth mics, verniers, etc. Proficient with threading and the various measuring/gauging requirements Drilling/tapping processes. Familiar with carbide machining processes. Ability to comprehend complex mechanical drawings and blueprints. Strong math skills. Machinist or Tool & Die Apprenticeship.

PPE training means general requirements, eye and face protection, head protection, foot protection, hand and body protection, hearing protection and body harness-personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) and position device systems.

Must have experience on: Horizontal Boring Mills, with multiple head attachments. Experience with large machining (parts up to as much as 30 feet in length).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

Experience machining large weldments, and a variety metal is preferred. 2) Vertical Milling Machines, Bridge/Gantry type mills with multiple head attachments. Multiple axis machining background preferred, either 3 + 2, or 5-axis experience is helpful.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

High school diploma is required.

School must be accredited.

WORK HOURS:

All shifts.

ADDITIONAL:

Must be able to work offsite at either Copeland Industrial Park or Oyster Point
