PERMIT COORDINATOR
Location: Albuquerque, NM
Job type: Long-term Contract
Our global EPC Firm client is hiring a Staff Environmental Scientist / Permit Coordinator for a long-term contract opportunity for their Albuquerque, NM location.
This position will require knowledge of the federal, state, and local permitting requirements associated with the development and construction of electrical distribution, transmission, and substation projects for Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) as part of their Infrastructure Investment Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinating with project teams on a variety of tasks, including completion of field surveys, environmental permitting with federal, state, and local agencies, and review of necessary project reports and materials.
- Coordinate with contractors, PMs, and clients regarding project schedule, permit status, and all pre-, current, and post- construction permit and Work Order needs.
- Review process and ensure that compliance and necessary updates are made known to all stakeholders.
- Coordinator must be available when necessary to advise contractors, engineers, and project managers.
- Daily interfacing with various agencies to obtain approvals, submit permit applications, and prepare responses in a timely manner.
- Applying technical and creative solutions to environmental/non environmental permitting.
- Advising clients and team members of appropriate strategies to obtain permits and maintain compliance with regulations and permit conditions.
- Managing work within budget and schedule expectations for each project.
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Travel may be required as necessary and required by project or client commitments.
REQUIREMENTS
- B.S. or M.S. in environmental science, environmental planning, biology, ecology, or related field from an accredited program is required (Must show on resume).
- Minimum 4 years of related professional experience is required (consulting preferred).
- Knowledge of regulations and permitting requirements for wetlands, threatened and endangered species, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits, stormwater and erosion & sediment control, cultural resources and architectural history, the National Environmental Policy Act, and state and local municipalities.
- Knowledge of transmission, distribution, and substation construction schedules and workload preferred.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate with a team.
- Ability to manage in a dynamic team environment, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and work effectively and professionally with various audiences (i.e., regulators, public officials, clients, etc.).
- Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
- Proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ArcGIS Pro).
