Job Description:
LEAD Staffing is currently seeking an experienced Pipefitter for a project in the Tampa, FL.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATONS:
LEARNER
Must have knowledge of tools and some mechanical ability;
Must have a set of pipefitting tools within 30 days (appropriate wrenches, burning shield gloves, stricker etc);
Must be able to read a tape or ruler;
Learn how to identify different sizes and types of pipe;
On time, dependable and good attendance.
CLASS C
Same as LEARNER plus the following;
Be able to cut, thread and assemble pipe;
Have own hand tools and know how to use them;
Proficient in the use of grinders, drills, metal saws and small shears;
Learning the terminology for pipefitters and areas of vessels;
Learning to use a cutting torch.
CLASS B
Same as CLASS C plus the following;
Able to read and interpret simple blue prints and sketches;
Able to tack weld;
Learn how to rig a pipe around job site;
Able to use a cutting torch with skill;
Must have some knowledge of types of pipe fittings;
Able to setup targets for pipe fabrication;
Able to layout all types of laterals-test;
Have some knowledge of heat exchangers, keel coolers and reach rods;
Learn how to fit simple treaded pipe with help.
CLASS A
Same as CLASS B plus the following;
Able to fit threaded pipe, butt-weld, socket-weld, PVC, tubing and high pressure pipe; Able to layout all types of materials;
Able to silver braze and soft solder;
Able to read blue prints and sketches;
Able to handle most projects with little or no supervision;
Able to work heat exchangers, keel coolers and reach rods;
Proficient in setting up targets and fabricating pipe.
CLASS AA
Same as CLASS A plus the following
Able to tack his pipe fit ups together;
Able to direct help with little or no supervision;
Able to understand the operation of fuel oil, lube oil, fresh and salt water cooling systems also the fire, potable water, sanitary drains, vents, sewage system, cargo and ballast
piping;
Able to burn with hand torch and assorted track torches.
CLASS AAA
Same as CLASS AA plus the following;
Able to layout and plan some projects without supervision;
Able to instruct others and run small in-craft crews and projects;
Able to work without supervision;
Able to rig all piping projects;
Able to train less experienced pipe fitters.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have HS diploma or GED.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations before customers, clients, or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Skills required for AA and AAA Class: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measures, whole numbers, common fractions and decimals in U.S. and metric conversions.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to carryout instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
None required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, couch, or crawl in the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of this job. The employee may be required to climb or balance above a height of 5 feet in the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of this job. The employee should test in the acceptable range for vision, hearing, and respiratory functions.
Specific physical requirements include the following:
Ability to lift 50-75 pounds on a consistent daily basis;
Ability to bend, stoop, climb aboard ships;
Ability to work in small, tight, confined spaces of no more than 14 inches by 14 inches;
Ability to work above ground at heights of a minimum 50 feet aloft and/or working from scaffolding and/or man-lifts while working with machinery;
Ability to withstand extreme heat in outside climate or confined spaces;
Physically and medically qualified to wear all required personal protective equipment as prescribed under OSHA standards;
Ability to stand for a minimum of 2 hours while conducting regular work duties;
Ability to respond to voice commands and audible alarms.
Must be able to wear a respirator in the performance of their duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
