Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate licensed Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated team at Progressive Steps, Inc. who is committed to improving the lives of children and families. As a pediatric OT, you will assess, plan, and implement individual therapy programs for children ages birth to age five while working closely with families and interdisciplinary team members.

Key Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that support fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, play skills, feeding, etc.

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations using assessments, clinical observations, and parent/caregiver input

  • Provide direct, hands-on therapy using age-appropriate and play-based approaches in in-home or community-based settings

  • Provide and educate parents and caregivers in understanding and implementing home- based strategies and reinforce therapy goals

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (SLPs, PTs, child development specialists, and other professional providers

  • Document evaluation results, progress notes, reports, and admin documentation in a timely manner

  • Provide supervision to PTAs or students (as appropriate)

  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program

  • Obtains a current and valid Occupational Therapist License

  • Pediatric clinical experience (internship or professional)

  • Valid driver’s licensed and reliable transportation

  • Documentation & Organizational Skills

    • Maintains and completes accurate reports of sessions, including date tracking, session notes, writing reports, and progress updates in a timely and organized manner

    • Efficient in prioritizing tasks and managing time

  • Ethics, Professionalism & Adaptability

    • Maintains client confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and professional boundaries

    • Responsive to feedback and open to ongoing learning and supervision

    • Uses sound judgement to handle unexpected client behaviors or sessions challenges

    • Demonstrates initiative and accountability within their scope of practice

  • Clinical Oversight & Guidance (if applicable)

    • Demonstrates the ability to develop and communicate clear treatment plans and therapeutic goals for the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to implement

    • Offers constructive feedback and professional coaching to foster COTA skill development and confidence

    • Maintains open lines of communication with the COTA to discuss therapy outcomes, challenges, and adjustments

    • Maintains accurate and secure records of all supervisory activities and performance observations

    • Conducts regular performance reviews or check-ins to sure COTA is meeting expectations and goals

  • Technical Proficiency

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (Email, Docs, Sheets, Forms)

  • Physical Demands

    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

    • Requires frequent movement such as sitting on the floor, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, crawling, or bending to interact with the clients at their level

    • Must be able to transition between in-home-based or community environments
