Job Description

The Senior Systems Engineer is a critical role responsible for bringing security and operational maturity to Health Precision’s infrastructure. This role involves deep-diving into existing systems, identifying and correcting vulnerabilities, and observing baseline systems administration practices. The successful candidate possesses a strong foundation in operating systems administration, familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS and Azure, as well as a proven understanding of security principles and vulnerability assessment methodologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough security assessments of existing systems, identifying and addressing vulnerabilities.
  • Deploy/ Reconfigure and optimize security and administration tools such as: Sophos XDR, Manage Engine Desktop Central, Log360, Wazuh/OSSEC, Veeam, and AWS Backup.
  • Harden server instances, containers, and related network configurations according to security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery solutions, utilizing both AWS Backup and Veeam.
  • Observe and enforce systems administration policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Act as a technical advisor to the DevOps team, providing guidance on best practices and remediation strategies.
  • Create and regularly provide compliance documents and artifacts.
  • Maintain system configurations, security procedures, and incident response plans.
  • Implement and maintain automation scripts for routine tasks.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in systems administration, with demonstrable experience with security and compliance (HIPAA, SOC2, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of operating systems administration principles (Windows Server, Linux) and standardized support frameworks like ITIL.
  • Familiarity with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Proven ability to harden servers, containers, and network configurations.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions and testing regimen
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant operating system certifications (e.g., RHCE, LPIC, Microsoft Certifications in Windows, Azure, etc.) preferred. Security-related certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+, CEH) highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, including Bash and PowerShell, required.
