Job Description

We're looking for a Commercial Patient Account Representative II to join our team. This is a temporary, full-time position covering a leave of absence from July 14, 2025, to November 15, 2025. You'll work 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day.

As a Commercial Patient Account Representative II, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our organization receives timely and accurate payments from commercial insurance companies. You'll be responsible for handling billing and collections for these accounts, taking ownership of each case to resolve any issues and secure payment. This involves understanding complex payment agreements and working directly with insurance company management when needed.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing Commercial Accounts: Taking charge of commercial insurance claims from billing to collection, making sure we get paid correctly and on time.

  • Customer Service: Providing excellent and professional service to patients and insurance companies, answering their questions clearly and effectively.

  • Problem Solving: Investigating and resolving billing and collection issues, using your critical thinking skills to identify problems and find solutions. This may involve contacting insurance companies directly by phone or online.

  • Documentation: Keeping accurate and up-to-date records of all communications and patient information in our financial system.

  • Processing Refunds: Reviewing and processing refunds for commercial insurance companies.

  • Meeting Goals: Achieving productivity targets set by management.

  • Following Policies: Adhering to all confidentiality policies, company procedures, and directives.

  • Teamwork: Prioritizing tasks, multitasking effectively, and contributing positively to the team. You'll also assist colleagues when your own work is complete.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in hospital collections specifically with commercial insurance payers.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive work ethic.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

  • The ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.

  • Strong critical thinking skills to research, review, and follow up on accounts, identify problems, and suggest improvements.

  • The ability to analyze documentation and resolve billing issues efficiently.

  • A high school diploma or GED.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience using a 10-key calculator by touch.

  • Bilingual (e.g., Spanish, etc.).

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding.

  • An Associate's degree or a medical field certificate.
