Job Description

Senior Living Specialists of California (SLSofCA)

Come help us help senior's families and the community that serves them! SLSofCA is seeking to hire licensed social workers and case managers on a part-time basis as Resource Advocates to increase awareness of SLSofCA as the premiere senior living advisory and placement agency in the LA Metro area. We aim to grow the relationships that SLSofCA has with senior services professionals and with families needing help with their loved ones, leading to an increased level of exposure and interaction with those serving the senior community and ultimately increase senior placements by SLSofCA.

What Will You Do as a Resource Advocate?

  • You will work in an outreach function to your peers at companies and non-profits that work with seniors and their families in all healthcare and related fields.
  • By reaching out to your peers and colleagues in similar jobs with companies or nonprofits providing services to seniors, you will introduce and educate your peers on:
  • (a) how SLSofCA works with seniors, their families, and other services providers when helping them help seniors in all facets of their aging journey
  • (b) explain how SLSofCA helps, at the appropriate time, plan their senior living journeys and matching them to appropriate communities once the need for such transitions arise, and
  • (c) provide SLSofCA the relevant contact information for the peers that you have contacted.
  • Preferably, you will retain your current jobs with healthcare services providers and remain in good standing with your existing employers. We have no intention of, and our program is not designed to, recruit you away from permanent work.

Additional Information

  • You may only undertake outreach or referrals which do not violate your medical license or the rules of ethics applicable to you or your full-time employer.
  • Initial contracts will cover 3 months and may be renewed only by mutual agreement. So, employment is at will.
  • You must be willing to commit between 10 hours a week to a maximum of 20 hours a week for qualifying outreach.
  • The work is self-paced and self-directed after an initial 4-hour training session (which counts as part of the first week’s work total, so it is a paid session).
  • The targets and goals for each Resource Advocate will be as follows:
  • A minimum of 6 contacts for Qualifying Leads (to be explained during training) for every 10 hours worked.
  • SLSofCA will provide a form to be filled out for each Qualifying Lead. You will report to SLSofCA each week, the hours worked, and the information of all Qualifying Leads on a format provided by SLSofCA.
  • Participate in a weekly call with SLSofCA management to gauge progress and address any challenges.
  • You set your own hours and reach out to those individuals within your respective network.
  • Standard compensation is $30/hour, paid the 1st and 15th of each month and will cover the hours worked for each pay period in question.
  • You will be W2 part-time employees.
  • No benefits are offered to part-time employees of SLSofCA.
  • Appropriate I-9 and other onboarding documentation required at the time of hiring.
  • You must agree to a standard background check.
  • You must agree to abide by the company’s employee policy and agree to safeguard all proprietary and confidential information of SLSofCA.
  • If you are successful in generating placements, you may earn additional compensation.

Company Description
As our loved ones age, figuring out how to take care of them can be overwhelming, but being prepared removes the fear of the unknown and reduces anxiety. That’s where we come in. We believe “Senior living” is a journey that entails more than just where you live, and work with families to chart their senior living journeys so they have confidence in all aspects of their life. We’ve learned that every person’s situation and needs are different, and have extensive knowledge and contacts to help you with a variety of areas such as aging in place, finding senior communities, protecting and organizing your assets, finding resources, and more.

We began as a concierge-style placement agency for seniors in the Los Angeles area, but after visiting over 150 senior living communities across the LA metro area and meeting with some of the best senior care service providers in the city, we saw the need to expand our services, and how we define "senior living" by extension, to better serve the older adults and their loved ones in our community.

We still offer top-knotch senior living placement services—predominately in the greater Los Angeles area and Orange County—but we know that senior living communities may not be the right fit for every family, or what they want at the moment. Through our proprietary free resources available from our trusted service provider partners or our website (www.SLSofCA.com), we help families put together the right senior living plan so they're golden years are a comfortable, fulfilling, safe, and healthy time of their lives.

Sometimes the scariest part of the journey is the first step, and especially if you're not sure where you're going. We're here to help you and family find the best route for you, and our services are always transparent and always free to the families we work with.
