POSITION TITLE: MEDICAL ASSISTANT FRONT OFFICE
OUR CLINIC:
Mountain West Behavioral Health is a psychiatric mental health clinic based in West Jordan, Utah. Our primary service is medication management. Our patients come from Salt Lake, Davis, Tooele and Utah County. Our Psychiatric mental Health Nurse Practitioner and LCSW provides both in-person and telehealth virtual appointments. Mountain West is determined to provide the best and most comprehensive care to our patients. While the practice is growing, the clinic will be expanding its licensed staff to more providers to provide and maintain a seasoned and diversified team of prescribers to serve a broad range of behavioral health needs within our community.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking a motivated professional with MA certification and or MA experience to join our clinic . While continuing to build our practice, this position will be required to fill several roles in support of our licensed healthcare staff, including medical assisting and clerical functions. This role will be largely responsible for supporting and maintaining front office practices in accordance with Mountain West Behavioral Health policies and procedures as well as patient care within the scope of a Medial Assistant. As the first point of contact for our patients and an ambassador for the care that we provide, this position requires a high level of professionalism, medical office knowledge and flexibility in accommodating the growth of our practice.
DUTIES PERFORMED:
· Serves as the first point of contact for the clinic by answering the phone, greeting and directing patients in a courteous and timely manner.
· Performs as a liaison to patients, outside healthcare professionals, insurance carriers, pharmacies and facilities.
· Creates new patient charts utilizing the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring that all necessary and appropriate documentation is included.
· Maintains all patient charts, including personal data and the verification of insurance eligibility and related information.
· Maintains scheduling and current patient lists, including information on various phases of treatment.
· Coordinates outside lab work and diagnostic screenings including the gathering of results and other documentation.
· Processes and distributes all transcribed notes, letters and reports.
· Prepares patients for visit with provider according to clinic procedures. Responsible for documenting vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, weight, height, waist circumference and the results of screening tools, BMI calculations, and responses to standardized medical history questions within the EHR system.
· Reports all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to the appropriate licensed staff member.
· Maintains and cleans patient examination rooms and equipment, monitoring supply stock levels, notifying Administration that stock needs to be ordered new supplies and equipment maintenance as necessary.
· Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
· Ability to perform the duties of the job in a courteous, and friendly manner as outlined above.
· Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful or difficult situations, displaying active listening and empathy while developing relationships with patients, staff and outside professionals.
· Ability to provide care appropriate to the patient population served.
· Ability to communicate with patients in a confidential manner to ensure that patient information is guarded and protected, according to HIPAA regulations.
· Ability to assess data and communicate with healthcare professionals regarding the patient's status and to provide appropriate care.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and follow-through skills.
· Ability to work efficiently and independently.
· Demonstrated computer skills and an ability and willingness to learn new applications and software, procedures and processes.
· Ability to assimilate data from various sources.
REQUIREMENTS:
Current, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
Clerical experience in an outpatient medical healthcare setting.
Excellent communication skills.
Must be willing to submit to a urine and/or other form of drug testing as deemed appropriate And criminal background check.
PREFERENCES:
Education and or experience as a Medical Assistant.
Experience with phlebotomy.
Experience with EKG lead placement and test administration.
Experience in a psychiatric care setting.
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
