Civil Drafter – Technical Services | Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Civil Drafter with strong AutoCAD skills and a proven ability to interpret and develop civil site and infrastructure drawings. This role is integral to supporting both internal teams and external clients by producing precise technical documentation and layout designs for civil and site development projects. The ideal candidate will have a civil drafting background and thrive in a collaborative environment where accuracy and project coordination are key.

Civil Design & Drafting:

• Create accurate layout drawings, site plans, grading, and drainage details using AutoCAD for civil infrastructure projects.

• Interpret civil engineering drawings, specifications, and redlines to produce clear and comprehensive technical plans.

• Apply civil drafting standards and practices to ensure compliance with local regulations and project requirements.

Project Coordination:

• Collect, verify, and organize site-specific data and customer-supplied information to support civil drafting needs.

• Collaborate closely with Inside Sales, Area Sales Managers, and Technical Services to deliver timely and accurate design packages.

Technical Support & Documentation:

• Provide drafting-based technical input regarding site layout, trenching, grading, and product integration.

• Assist in revising design documents based on site conditions, customer requests, or construction feedback.

File & Record Management:

• Maintain organized and up-to-date design files and project documentation within company systems (e.g., Dynamics, shared drives).

• Track revisions and ensure consistent file version control.

Customer-Facing Interaction:

• Respond professionally to customer requests for plan adjustments, product details, or layout clarifications.

• Incorporate feedback into revised civil drawings or documentation when necessary.

Quality & Compliance:

• Ensure all civil drawings meet internal quality standards and drafting conventions.

• Follow industry and company best practices for civil documentation and safety.

• Civil Drafting Expertise – Strong command of AutoCAD (2021 or later) with experience in grading, drainage, site planning, and layout drawings.

• Accuracy & Detail Orientation – Maintains high standards of precision in civil drawings and documentation.

• Multitasking & Organization – Manages multiple project timelines effectively while maintaining document control.

• Communication – Capably translates technical information into actionable documents for internal and external stakeholders.

• Education: Associate degree or certificate in Civil Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of civil drafting experience in engineering, construction, or infrastructure design.

  • Proficiency in reading and drafting civil site plans, utility layouts, and construction drawings.

  • Familiarity with CAD standards, symbols, and layers common in civil applications.

• AutoCAD 2021 or newer (required)

• Adobe Acrobat Pro (preferred)

• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

• Office-based position; extensive use of computer and drafting software.

• Occasionally may be required to lift up to 25 lbs or attend on-site visits for clarification purposes.

• Frequent use of hands and visual focus for technical drafting work.
