Join Our Growing Spine Care Team

Michigan Orthopedic Center is seeking a part-time Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our collaborative spine surgery team. You will work alongside a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon and a full-time experienced spine NP, forming a team of two advanced practice providers who support clinic operations and surgical care.

This is an ideal position for a PA/NP with a passion for musculoskeletal medicine and spine surgery, looking for part-time work with predictable weekday hours, professional mentorship, and a mix of clinic and OR exposure.

Position Highlights:
  • 0.5 FTE
  • Outpatient clinic care: pre-op, post-op, and spine evaluations
  • First-assist in surgery (intermittent; no trauma or weekend call)
  • Team-based model with one full-time NP and one spine surgeon
  • Opportunity to grow role into more clinic or OR time if desired
  • On-site X-ray, physical therapy, and Modernizing Medicine EMR system
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct spine-focused new patient evaluations, follow-ups, and postoperative visits
  • Document clinical encounters, develop treatment plans, and order imaging/labs
  • Scrub into surgeries on select cases (lumbar decompressions, fusions, cervical procedures)
  • Provide phone triage, patient education, and surgical counseling
  • Collaborate closely with the lead NP and spine surgeon to streamline care
  • Support coordination of imaging, referrals, DME, and surgical preauthorization
Qualifications:
  • Licensed and board-certified PA-C or NP (FNP or AGACNP) in Michigan
  • Orthopedic, neurosurgical, or inpatient surgical experience preferred but not required
  • Comfortable working independently with physician support
  • Positive attitude and commitment to team-based, patient-centered care
  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume outpatient practice
