Pizza Kitchen Prep & Driver– School Meal Production

Location: Phoenix, AZ 85009
Reports To: Kitchen Lead and/or Kitchen Manager
Pay Range: $17.00–$19.00/hour
Position Type: Full-time; Part-time may also be available

Schedule: Typical start times between 4am-5am, Mon-Fri

Note: Some seasonal variation—work hours may significantly decrease or cease during school breaks (Spring, Fall, Winter, and Summer).

Job Summary

As a Pizza Kitchen Prep Worker at Nutrition One, you’ll help prepare delicious and nutritious pizzas and sides for students throughout Arizona. You'll play a key role in ensuring consistency, food safety, and speed while producing school meals under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). This hands-on role blends teamwork and precision, ensuring every slice we serve is made with care and purpose.

Key Responsibilities

???? Pizza & Food Prep

• Prepare dough, sauces, cheese blends, and toppings in accordance with standardized recipes
• Assemble pizzas efficiently while maintaining portion and quality standards
• Operate pizza ovens, slicers, and prep tools safely and accurately
• Portion sides such as salads, fruit, and packaged meals per USDA guidelines
• Follow rotation systems for ingredients (FIFO) and support daily production targets

???? Food Safety & Clean-Up

• Follow Nutrition One’s HACCP protocols and food handling procedures
• Maintain clean prep stations, ovens, equipment, and storage areas
• Monitor and log food temperatures and hold times
• Sanitize tools, trays, and surfaces frequently throughout the shift
• Manage waste, compost, and recycling in compliance with safety standards

???? Teamwork & Kitchen Support

• Work collaboratively with Prep and Kitchen Leads to meet daily goals
• Assist with loading ovens, preparing to-go meals, or packing food for delivery as needed
• Support mobile meal service or on-site events when required
• Maintain a dependable schedule and help foster a supportive kitchen culture

• Wear clean uniform and maintain proper hygiene per company policy
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including meal program regulations
• Proactively seek clarification or training if unsure about prep methods or safety protocols
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to serving students

Schedule Expectations

• Pizza Prep Shifts: Typically begin between 4:00-6:00 AM
• Must be available for early morning shifts and occasional weekend or holiday events
• May be required to deliver pizzas, Valid AZ Driver’s License and clean driving record will be required

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Food Handler’s Card
• Strong basic math skills (for portioning and recipes)
• Clear communication skills and ability to follow instructions
• Dependable attendance and timeliness

Physical Requirements

• Stand and move for 6+ hours per shift
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Work in warm kitchens and refrigerated storage areas
• Safely operate kitchen equipment including ovens, mixers, and slicers
• Perform repetitive motions such as stretching dough, lifting trays, and slicing ingredients

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year food prep or pizza kitchen experience
• Customer service background is a plus
• Bilingual (Spanish)
• Valid AZ Driver’s License and clean driving record, strongly preferred
• Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (DPS-issued)
