Type: Direct Hire 

Title: Revenue Accounting Manager 

Base Salary: $120,000 – $125,000  (annual bonus: 15 – 20 %, paid quarterly)  + comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage. 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, paid holidays, and professional-development support

Location: Richmond, VA (100% in office)

Summary: 

Our client—a fast-growing, project-based organization in the professional-services space—is looking for an experienced Revenue Accounting Manager who will help define best practices and shape future finance leaddership. As the business has grown, its order-to-cash processes and project-cost controls need a leader who can build robust systems, mentor a small team, and drive accuracy throughout the revenue cycle.You’ll report to the COO and lead a team of 3–4 cost-accounting and financial-analysis professionals. What You’ll Do

  • Own the full order-to-cash cycle—billing, collections, revenue recognition, and project costing—for a growing portfolio of complex, project-driven work.
  • Implement and enhance processes: design scalable workflows, select / optimize systems, and establish internal controls that reduce errors and improve efficiency.
  • Lead & develop the team: train, coach, and set clear performance standards for 3–4 accounting professionals.
  • Apply technical expertise: ensure compliance with ASC 606; manage WIP reporting, COGS tracking, and gross-margin analysis.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Project Management, and Finance leadership to align revenue metrics with business goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying root causes of inefficiencies and rolling out pragmatic solutions.

Requirements: 

  • 5+ years of progressive revenue / project accounting experience within construction, professional services, or other project-driven industries
  • Proven command of ASC 606, percentage-of-completion, WIP schedules, and project costing
  • Hands-on leadership of small accounting teams (hiring, training, performance management)
  • Track record of redesigning or rebuilding broken billing / revenue processes
  • Must pass criminal background check

Nice to have: 

  • Experience leading an accounting transformation or system implementation
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification
  • Advanced data-analysis or BI skills
